Dubai Aerospace Enterprise completes $9 billion acquisition of Macquarie AirFinance

Dubai: Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) has completed its previously announced acquisition of Macquarie AirFinance Limited (MAF) and its consolidated subsidiaries in a transaction valued at approximately US$9 billion.The acquisition covers 100% of MAF's outstanding share capital and includes adjustments related to changes in the company's fleet between the announcement of the deal and its completion.Following the acquisition, DAE's portfolio has expanded to approximately 1,000 owned, managed and committed aircraft, significantly strengthening its position in the global aircraft leasing market.The company's owned and managed fleet is currently leased to more than 175 airlines across over 75 countries.DAE also has commitments to acquire approximately 150 aircraft from manufacturers and trading partners, including Boeing, Airbus and ATR, providing additional fleet growth capacity in the coming years.Firoz Tarapore, Chief Executive Officer of DAE, said the completion of the acquisition marks another major milestone in the company's expansion strategy."With a track record of successful transformational acquisitions, the closing of MAF marks another milestone on our journey," Tarapore said."Our current fleet size makes us the third-largest lessor globally, both by fleet value and number of owned and managed aircraft."He added that the transaction would further strengthen DAE's relationships with major aircraft manufacturers."This transaction also allows us to deepen our long-standing relationships with Boeing and Airbus. Delivery slots on our orderbook now extend into the 2030s, giving us the flexibility to better support our airline customers' fleet requirements."The acquisition was originally announced in February 2026.DAE was advised on the transaction by Allen Overy Shearman Sterling LLP and KPMG.
