RIYADH — Deputy Minister of Finance for International Relations Khalid Bawazier headed Saudi Arabia’s delegation attending the 17th meeting of the Arab Finance Ministers Council and the high-level roundtable held in Abu Dhabi. The meeting was organized by the Arab Monetary Fund. The delegation also attended the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Arab Monetary Fund. Participants exchanged information on Arab countries' experiences in several fields and discussed working papers, studies, and presentations submitted by international institutions, including the World Bank and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), on key economic developments in Arab countries. Addressing the event, Bawazier highlighted that the Kingdom's efforts across a range of development areas have delivered tangible results that support economic growth. He also noted that successful sustainable infrastructure projects begin with preparing a project based on an integrated economic and financial feasibility study, a clear contractual framework, procurement and disclosure governance, and measurable performance indicators. Bawazier said this underscores the World Bank's important role as a "knowledge bank" in building capacity, developing bankable infrastructure projects, and sharing experiences among countries in similar circumstances.
