CAIRO – 15 March 2026: The Council of Arab Information Ministers has issued a statement emphasizing the importance of the Arab media’s role in educating public opinion on the reality of the blatant Iranian aggression against several Arab countries, which targets their security, facilities, and the capabilities of their peoples.

The statement — proposed by Egypt, represented by the Ministry of State for Information, and approved by the Arab states — included a warning against being led astray by the fallacies being promoted to sow discord and incite strife among Arab peoples.

The following is the text of the statement:

Statement Issued by the Council of Arab Information Ministers

The Council of Arab Information Ministers has closely monitored developments in the region, specifically the ongoing military attacks, threats, and provocative acts perpetrated by Iran against several Arab states (the Emirates, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar).

The Council has also observed the coverage of these events by Arab media across all platforms, as well as the international media’s portrayal of regional developments.

In this regard, the Council of Arab Information Ministers affirms the following:

● The Council salutes all Arab media outlets — public, private, and otherwise — that have reported developments to the Arab people with professionalism, honor, and commitment to national Arab principles. These outlets have embodied the cohesion and strength of the Arab societies targeted by these attacks and reflected the official and popular Arab consensus on solidarity and the right to legitimate self-defense.

● The Ministers call upon all forms of Arab media (traditional, digital, audio, print, and visual) to fulfill their role in educating Arab and global public opinion regarding the facts. It must be emphasized that the Iranian attacks on certain Arab countries constitute a brutal and unjustified aggression against peaceful nations that did not initiate aggression against any party.

● The Council stresses the importance of informing the public that Iranian attacks have largely targeted civilian facilities, infrastructure, and the resources of Arab peoples, harming the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors alike.

● The Council emphasizes the need for media to avoid intentional or erroneous confusion between the military operations/armed conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, and the aggressive Iranian attacks on Arab states. Regardless of one’s stance on the causes or consequences of the Iran-Israel-US conflict, it in no way justifies conflating it with explicit Iranian aggression against Arab targets.

● The Council appeals to Arab social media users not to be misled by planted rumors designed to drive a wedge between Arab peoples.

● The current circumstances demand that every Arab citizen — as has been the case during all previous difficult national events and developments — express full Arab solidarity with peoples facing aggression. It is vital to maintain a unified and steadfast Arab position against any infringement upon any peaceful Arab nation. This reflects the general sentiment of the Arab masses, who are well aware of the importance of avoiding the traps of division and discord set by the enemies of the Arab nation through digital media and social media.

● The Council calls upon both public and private Arab media outlets to cooperate in conveying the facts to the Arab public, based on official data and information issued by sister Arab countries subjected to Iranian attacks. This is necessary to block the deliberate lies being circulated regarding the objectives and outcomes of these attacks. The Council emphasizes the importance of accuracy and ensuring that information sources are documented, especially given the news and analyses from anonymous sources published on social media that may incite strife and damage the eternalrelations between sister Arab states.

● Furthermore, the Council calls for comprehensive Arab cooperation to inform international public opinion of the reality regarding Iranian aggressions against Arab countries and the violation of their sovereignty. This includes engaging with major international media outlets, providing them with facts, and correcting the fallacies and falsehoods being promoted.
