LONDON — Everton captain Seamus Coleman will end his 17-year playing career with the club at the end of the season. Coleman has made a club record 372 Premier League appearances for Everton and 433 in total, leaving the defender needing just one more to move into 10th place in the Toffees’ all-time list. The 37-year-old right-back, signed from Sligo Rovers in 2009, has been ravaged by injuries in the last three seasons and has made just 23 appearances over that period, AFP reported. Everton has offered a coaching role to Coleman, who has captained the team 140 times, but he has yet to decide his next move. “Coming over here as a 20-year-old from Sligo Rovers to a reserve team, I was just hoping to impress enough to get on the bench,” the Republic of Ireland captain told Everton’s website. “To think I’ve gone on to make the most Premier League appearances for Everton and to become captain of this great football club — it was beyond my wildest dreams. “The club has been unbelievable with me. They’ve offered me an opportunity to stay on at the football club. “The manager and staff have been great, and I think with it being such an important decision over my future, I’m going to take a nice, long holiday and look back on what has been an amazing time as an Everton footballer.” The post Coleman to end Everton career appeared first on Egyptian Gazette.
