Children’s council highlights Red Crescent’s humanitarian mission

The National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, led by Dr. Sahar El-Sonbaty, organized a visit to the Egyptian Red Crescent to familiarize children with its humanitarian mission in relief and emergency response. The initiative, part of the Council’s “Child Ambassadors” program, aims to instill values of volunteerism, social responsibility, and community participation among young people. Dr. El-Sonbaty emphasized that the visit provided children with direct exposure to the Red Crescent’s work, inspiring them to contribute positively to society. She praised the dedication of the Red Crescent’s volunteer teams, noting their vital role in delivering rapid humanitarian support during crises. The program included interactive tours of relief operations, crisis management facilities, and a training session titled “Little Rescuer,” where children learned basic first aid skills. The visit also featured a lecture on the Red Crescent’s history and mission, as well as hands-on participation in humanitarian aid activities. Children expressed enthusiasm for the experience, highlighting how it strengthened their sense of giving and community engagement. Dr. Amal Imam, Executive Director of the Egyptian Red Crescent, welcomed the young visitors, describing the organization as “the home of volunteerism in Egypt” with a legacy spanning over 115 years. She underscored the importance of passing on the spirit of humanitarian service to future generations, affirming that each child ambassador represents a national project in nurturing volunteerism and compassion.
