Banks, mortgage finance companies provide EGP 111.131bn under housing initiative as of July 2026

Banks and mortgage finance companies participating in the mortgage finance initiative for low- and middle-income customers provided EGP 111.131bn in financing to around 723,604 customers as of July 2026, according to a report issued by the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund. The report showed that the 23 banks participating in the initiative provided around EGP 103.525bn in financing to low-income customers, benefiting around 689,813 customers. Banks also provided EGP 5.094bn in financing to around 13,988 middle-income customers, accounting for around 4.6% of total financing under the initiative. Mortgage finance companies provided EGP 2.45bn in financing to low-income customers, benefiting around 19,299 customers and accounting for 2.3% of total financing under the initiative. Mortgage finance companies also provided EGP 60.697m in financing to around 504 middle-income customers, representing 0.1% of total financing under the initiative. Banks’ Shares According to the report, the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) topped the list of banks participating in the mortgage finance initiative for low-income customers in July 2026, with financing of EGP 24.260bn provided to around 174,553 customers, accounting for 21.83% of the total initiative. Banque Misr ranked second, with EGP 23.426bn in financing, accounting for 21.08% of the initiative and benefiting around 162,927 customers. Banque du Caire ranked third, with a share of 11.69%, providing EGP 12.994bn in financing to around 75,424 customers. QNB Egypt ranked fourth, with a 7.7% share, providing EGP 8.612bn in financing to around 42,512 customers, followed by the Housing and Development Bank (HDB) in fifth place, with EGP 8.475bn in financing provided to around 78,045 customers and a 7.63% share. Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) ranked sixth, providing EGP 7.383bn in financing to around 38,614 customers and accounting for 6.64% of total financing under the initiative. Bank NXT ranked seventh, with a 2.95% share and EGP 3.278bn in financing provided to around 15,295 customers, followed by United Bank in eighth place, with a 2.59% share and EGP 2.878bn in financing to around 17,732 customers. Industrial Development Bank ranked ninth, with a 2.21% share, providing EGP 2.460bn in financing to around 19,373 customers. Mashreq Bank rounded out the top 10, with a 1.29% share, providing EGP 1.431bn in financing to around 8,047 customers. Companies’ Shares The report also showed that the eight companies participating in the mortgage finance initiative for low-income customers provided EGP 2.451bn in financing under the initiative in July 2026, benefiting around 19,299 customers and accounting for 2.2% of total financing. According to a recent report by the fund, Al Taamir Mortgage Finance topped the list of companies participating in the initiative, with a financing portfolio of EGP 967.869m covering around 7,236 customers. Contact followed, with EGP 832.521m in financing provided to around 6,115 customers. Al Ahly Mortgage Finance ranked third, with a financing portfolio of EGP 285.334m covering around 2,544 customers, followed by Amlak in fourth place, with a portfolio of EGP 240.219m covering around 2,213 customers. Tamweel ranked fifth, with EGP 50.391m in financing provided to around 453 customers, followed by the Egyptian Mortgage Refinance Company, with EGP 43.042m in financing to around 429 customers. Ahli United Mortgage Finance ranked seventh, with EGP 19.973m in financing provided to around 200 customers, followed by Arab African International Mortgage Finance in eighth place, with EGP 12.211m in financing to around 109 customers.
