Dubai: Al-Futtaim Motors, the exclusive distributor of Toyota in the UAE, announced in a statement on Wednesday that it is about to unveil a special farewell surprise to mark the final departure of the building known as the ‘Toyota Building’.The company said: “The story of the Toyota sign is not over yet, as we plan to continue its legacy in a new way, the details of which we will reveal in the coming months… And one day next September, we have prepared a special surprise that will be revealed as a final farewell to the building. Looking up will be enough to see it when the time comes.”Al-Futtaim Automotive, part of the Al-Futtaim Group, explained that this step came after the news of the end of the story of the Nasser Rashid Lootah building, on Sheikh Zayed Road, known as the ‘Toyota Building’, stirred many emotions within the company.The company said: “As we bid farewell to a landmark that has been linked to Dubai’s memory for many years, we look forward to what the next phase holds for this unique site in the heart of Dubai.”It added that the Nasser Rashid Lootah building has witnessed, since its construction, an exceptional journey of growth and achievement in Dubai, as the building's residents saw many features of this renaissance taking shape around them.The company noted that during those years, landmarks emerged that have become part of the city’s identity today, such as the Dubai World Trade Centre, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, and Dubai International Financial Centre, along with many other achievements that have cemented Dubai’s position among the world’s leading cities.Al-Futtaim said: “We knew that the famous ‘Toyota Building’ story would come to an end sooner or later, especially amidst a vibrant and constantly growing and evolving environment.”The company added: “We are proud to have been, for nearly half a century, a familiar part of Dubai’s iconic skyline, and we thank Nasser Rashid Lootah Group for giving us this opportunity.”
