Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi called on Monday the people to unite around the “project of the state” and support the army and security forces in their battle to reclaim state institutions and end the Houthi coup. In a statement to the people, he declared that it is time “to end the suffering that the terrorist Houthi militia created.” He announced that work was underway to resume oil exports and that revenues should go to serving the people across Yemen. He pledged to meet fundamental commitments related to the state, the payment of salaries, improving services, and bolstering economic stability. The wealth and resources of Yemen should return to the people, “not remain hostage to Houthis adventures and extortion,” he stressed. “The state has never stopped pursuing peace and easing the suffering of the people,” al-Alimi said. “The Houthi militias, however, chose escalation and refused humanitarian initiatives, exploited the suffering of the Yemenis to pursue their own agenda,” he remarked. He vowed that the Yemenis will be victorious “in restoring the state and ending the Houthi coup once and for all.” “The recent years have proven that the tragedy endured by the Yemenis is not an inevitable fate, but a direct result of the terrorist Houthi coup and their exploitation of the people’s suffering to serve the Iranian regime’s agenda and drag Yemen to its regional conflicts,” al-Alimi continued. He called on the people living in regions held by the Houthis to embrace the “project of the state and republic because it is the only guarantee for security, stability and the desired future that the Yemenis deserve.”
