Al Ain: The Al Ain Court for Civil, Commercial and Administrative Cases has ordered a man to pay AED50,000 in compensation to a woman for material and moral damages after he was found responsible for assaulting her and causing injuries.According to court records, the woman filed a lawsuit seeking AED100,000 in compensation, in addition to fees, expenses and legal costs. She stated that the defendant had assaulted her physical safety, causing injuries that prevented her from carrying out her personal activities for a period not exceeding 20 days.She noted that the defendant had already been convicted in a criminal case related to the incident.In its judgment, the court explained that, under the Civil Transactions Law, any person who causes harm to another is liable to compensate for the resulting damage.The court stated that the criminal judgment had conclusively established the occurrence of the act, its legal description and the defendant's responsibility for it.The court found that the defendant's actions resulted in physical harm to the claimant, including a compound fracture of the nasal bones and nosebleeds, as confirmed by the medical report and the criminal judgment. It also recognised the psychological suffering she experienced as a result of the incident.The court held that a direct causal relationship existed between the defendant's actions and the damages suffered by the claimant, making him legally liable for compensation.The court ultimately ordered the defendant to pay AED50,000 in compensation and dismissed all other claims.
