Air Cairo launches 1st direct flight from Porto to El Alamein
By Mohamed Attia El Alamein International Airport has welcomed Air Cairo’s inaugural direct flight from Porto, Portugal, carrying 180 passengers, marking another milestone in the airline’s expansion across European markets.  The new service reflects Air Cairo’s ongoing efforts to support inbound tourism to Egypt and strengthen air connectivity between Egyptian tourist destinations and international source markets. Hussein Sherif, Chairman of Air Cairo, said: “We are proud to launch our first direct service between Porto and New El Alamein as part of the company’s continued strategy to expand into promising markets and enhance its international route network.” Sherif added that Air Cairo is currently the only Egyptian airline operating direct flights between Egypt and Portugal. He also highlighted the carrier’s growing role as one of Egypt’s leading airlines focused on attracting inbound tourism, reflecting the increasing confidence of international tour operators and travel partners in the quality of the airline’s services and its ability to meet the needs of different tourism source markets. Despite ongoing regional and international developments, Sherif emphasised that Air Cairo has maintained its regular flight operations without cancelling any scheduled services in recent months. He explained that operations have continued in line with approved schedules, with exceptions limited to force majeure, circumstances beyond the airline’s control, such as airport closures, regulatory restrictions imposed by relevant authorities, or other extraordinary events affecting the safety and continuity of air traffic.
