Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, attended a UAE Flag Day ceremony at Etihad Museum in Dubai today, joining nationwide celebrations called for by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The ceremony was organised by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, as part of the ‘National Month’ celebrations.
The event began with the raising of the UAE flag as a military band performed the national anthem, with schoolchildren joining the celebrations. This year’s Flag Day coincides with the 10th anniversary of Etihad Museum, which tells the story of the UAE’s founding.
Sheikh Ahmed said Flag Day is an occasion to celebrate national unity and renew loyalty to the UAE’s leadership. He described the UAE flag as a symbol of the nation’s strength, sovereignty, identity and future ambitions, reflecting the values of unity and solidarity established by the Founding Fathers and upheld by the UAE’s leadership across generations.
Sheikh Ahmed added that Flag Day reflects the deep loyalty of the UAE’s people to their nation and leadership, as well as the strong bonds that unite society. He said the flag represents the UAE’s journey of ambition, determination and achievement, which has made the country a global model of development and prosperity. Every new achievement, he noted, further strengthens the UAE flag’s standing and the respect it commands around the world.
His Highness said that under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and with the support of Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, the UAE continues to invest in its people and pursue ambitious development goals, guided by its national values and a vision for a more prosperous, sustainable and competitive future.
Sheikh Ahmed also emphasised that safeguarding the UAE’s achievements requires dedication, innovation and preparing future generations to build on the nation’s progress. He praised the UAE’s people for turning ambitions into achievements and unlocking new opportunities to strengthen the nation’s global standing and influence.
This year’s flag-raising ceremony at Etihad Museum also coincides with the 10th anniversary of its opening. Through historical documents and exhibits, the museum offers insights into the UAE’s journey of unity and development, built on visionary leadership and shared determination, while helping younger generations connect with their nation’s history and heritage.
