Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk met with an expanded delegation of leading Turkish businessmen and investors as part of a high-level Turkish delegation’s visit to Egypt, headed by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry. The meeting came in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to strengthen economic cooperation, expand joint investments, provide the support needed for investors and empower the private sector. It was attended by the head of the General Union for Poultry Producers, the heads of specialised divisions and the head of the Agricultural Crops Export Council to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation and explore promising investment and partnership opportunities in the agricultural and poultry sectors. During the meeting, Farouk said Egypt is committed to creating a favourable investment climate and removing obstacles facing both local and foreign investors. He noted that the country’s agricultural and poultry sectors enjoy strong competitive advantages and offer promising investment opportunities that support sustainable development plans and strengthen food security. The discussions also covered mechanisms to support partnerships between the Egyptian and Turkish private sectors, increase trade in agricultural crops, transfer modern technologies, develop supply chains and expand cooperation in the poultry and livestock industries. The two sides further discussed positioning Türkiye as a regional hub for Egyptian poultry and poultry product exports to neighbouring and nearby markets. The proposal aims to capitalise on Türkiye’s strategic geographical location and advanced logistics and supply chains, enabling Egyptian companies to access new markets, increase exports and maximise the added value of domestic production. The meeting concluded with an agreement to organise a field visit for a number of Turkish businessmen and investors, including tours of poultry farms, modern slaughterhouses, major agricultural projects and crop-production farms across Egypt. The visit is intended to give the delegation first-hand insight into the sector’s technological capabilities and the investment opportunities available.
