Afra Saraçoğlu drug test revealed: Does she use drugs?

ALBAWABA - Afra Saraçoğlu’s reported drug test result has emerged as part of the ongoing investigation involving several well-known names in Türkiye, with reports stating that cocaine was detected in a hair sample taken from the actress.

The result comes after biological samples collected during the investigation were examined by the Forensic Medicine Institute. Turkish media reports citing the toxicology findings say cocaine was detected in Saraçoğlu’s hair sample, while actor Aras Bulut İynemli’s tests reportedly came back negative.

According to reports published on September 30, Saraçoğlu’s hair analysis detected the active substance associated with cocaine.

The reported finding relates specifically to her hair sample. Reports do not say that cocaine was detected in blood or urine samples belonging to Saraçoğlu. This distinction is important because the tests reported publicly for other people in the investigation involved different types of biological samples.

Turkish reports have also noted that Saraçoğlu previously denied using illegal drugs. According to reporting on her earlier statement to authorities, she said she had never used drugs and that medications found at her home were prescription treatments.

The reported toxicology result is now part of the investigation, but it does not by itself establish the circumstances surrounding any alleged drug use. The wider judicial process remains ongoing.

Afra Saraçoğlu was outside Türkiye when the investigation became public.

On September 18, after reports that authorities had issued a detention order, the actress said through social media that she was abroad for a previously planned work trip. She added that she would return to Türkiye as soon as possible and cooperate fully with the judicial authorities.

She later returned from France and was detained at Istanbul Airport on September 21. She was taken for a medical examination before completing procedures with the Forensic Medicine Institute and prosecutors. She was subsequently released.

Her management company also confirmed that she had ended her overseas trip and appeared before the judicial authorities before being released.

The latest reports also provide an important contrast.

Aras Bulut İynemli, who was among the names questioned in the same investigation, reportedly tested negative. His blood, urine and hair samples were examined, with reports saying that no drugs or stimulants were detected.

İynemli had previously denied using drugs and told authorities that he had no involvement in drug use, purchasing or distribution.

Journalist and sports commentator Yağız Sabuncuoğlu was also reported to have received a negative result.

The results are part of a broader investigation led by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. The inquiry has involved figures from the entertainment, sports and media worlds and has examined allegations concerning drug use and supply.

An operation was carried out on September 18, with authorities ordering searches, detentions and biological testing. A number of suspects were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute after their initial procedures.

The investigation has already produced different outcomes for those involved. Some suspects were released, while two people were reported to have been arrested and others released under judicial-control measures.

The newly reported toxicology findings add another development to the case, but the investigation itself has not concluded. Further legal steps and assessments by prosecutors are expected as authorities continue examining the evidence.

For Saraçoğlu, the reported hair-test finding is the latest development in a case that began while she was abroad and has now moved into a new stage following the completion of the forensic examinations.
