According to Al Khaleej, the $30 million commitment targets urgent humanitarian needs in the Sudanese city of Al-Abyad, with Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Buti Al Hamid, Chairman of the National Media Council, confirming that the UAE's aid to Sudan reflects a principled and consistent policy aimed at preventing further suffering among the Sudanese people. The UAE Field Hospital in Gaza also received a delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, known as OCHA, to review medical services and discuss avenues for expanded humanitarian cooperation.
Al Khaleej further reports that President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan dispatched congratulatory telegrams to the President of Cape Verde, Jose Maria Neves, on the occasion of his country's independence anniversary, as well as to Delcy Rodriguez, Acting President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on Venezuela's independence day. Separately, the President and his deputies extended congratulations to Peru's newly elected President, Keiko Sofia Fujimori Higuchi, following her victory in the presidential elections.
On the domestic front, Al Khaleej reports that the Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, issued an emiri decree approving the general organizational structure of the Department of Economic Development, a move intended to streamline economic governance within the emirate. In Abu Dhabi, the government announced the launch of the Microsoft 365 Copilot platform across public sector entities, equipping tens of thousands of government employees with artificial intelligence capabilities under the banner of the "Leading Employee" programme.
Al Khaleej also reports that Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority launched an AI-powered bus management system designed to enhance operational readiness across varying conditions, while the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai confirmed that its "Red Carpet" smart border system successfully processed 9.4 million travellers over six months, with an average transit time of 3.4 seconds per passenger.
