Oil Prices Hit $108 as US-Iran Talks Break Down

Overview:

Global oil markets extended gains as geopolitical tensions suppressed supply expectations, with crude reaching $108 per barrel. Across the Middle East and North Africa, governments advanced major projects spanning renewable energy, maritime infrastructure, and cross-border trade corridors. Lebanon's government delegation opened talks in Washington to secure expanded international financial support for reform initiatives.

Details:

Crude oil prices climbed for the second consecutive session, driven by persistent supply chain anxieties and the breakdown of U.S.-Iran settlement discussions. Energy sector equities in Europe rose 0.8 percent, while mining stocks retreated 1.2 percent as precious metal prices softened. Bond yields strengthened in line with oil's advance, signaling market expectations for potential rate increases.

In infrastructure development, Egypt completed electrical grid interconnection work with Saudi Arabia, enabling exchange of 3,000 megawatts between the two national systems. The project provides load-sharing flexibility during peak demand periods. Separately, Saudi Arabia opened a maritime corridor for yacht operations along the Red Sea coast, with Red Sea Global launching a unified yacht network platform to manage ports and clubs. Dubai recorded 335 luxury real estate transactions exceeding $10 million over an eight-month period, concentrated in planned residential developments and waterfront properties. Dubai also secured 2.7 billion dollars in refinancing for its solar energy complex, the world's largest of its kind, converting renewable projects into tradeable financial assets.

Trade coordination advanced as Iraq and Syria agreed on procedural measures to accelerate bilateral commerce and border crossing efficiency. Egypt and the World Bank jointly developed an investment strategy targeting 16 sectors to attract quality foreign capital through digital infrastructure upgrades and legislative modernization.

Outlook:

Investors are monitoring whether oil price momentum sustains as geopolitical risks persist and energy market volatility continues. Attention is shifting toward the Lebanese government's Washington discussions and the extent of World Bank funding commitments for regional economic stabilization and reform programs.
