Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Aati held a telephone conversation with Massad Boulos, Senior Adviser to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs, to discuss the latest developments in Libya. The exchange, confirmed by multiple Egyptian outlets, signals renewed diplomatic engagement between Cairo and Washington on Libyan stability at a moment when regional pressure points — from southern Lebanon to Gaza — are simultaneously demanding international attention.
Details:
According to Sada Al-Balad and El-Fagr, the phone call between Abdel Aati and Boulos focused on developments in Libya, with the Egyptian foreign minister expressing appreciation for American efforts aimed at achieving unity and stability in the country. El-Balad similarly reported that Abdel Aati "valued the American efforts" directed toward a unified and stable Libya, framing the conversation as a constructive exchange rather than a crisis consultation.
The diplomatic activity coincided with a separate development on the Lebanese front. El-Balad reported that Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun told the UN Special Envoy that Beirut adopted direct negotiation with Israel under U.S. sponsorship, aiming to consolidate the ceasefire, secure an Israeli withdrawal, and strengthen the Lebanese Army. The European Union, also reported by El-Balad, separately welcomed a framework agreement reached between Lebanon and Israel in Washington, describing it as a pathway toward lasting peace and security.
On the Palestinian file, El-Balad cited Dimitri Daliani, member of the Revolutionary Council and spokesperson for the Democratic Reform Current within the Fatah movement, who stated that Israeli occupation authorities had issued more than ten thousand arrest orders over the course of one thousand days of war on Gaza. Separately, El-Balad reported that the Arab Parliament, through its president Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi, rejected calls to exclude UNRWA and condemned any attempts to partition Gaza, describing such proposals as legally and politically inadmissible.
Also noted by El-Balad, Jordanian Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez met with French Senate President Gerard Larcher in Paris, reaffirming the importance of joint coordination to halt Israeli military operations and underscoring support for the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
