On the diplomatic front, El-Fagr and El-Balad report that Foreign Minister Abdel Aty met EU Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Annette Weber, reaffirming Egypt's support for the unity and sovereignty of both Sudan and Somalia. In a separate engagement, Abdel Aty received AU Commissioner Ama Amwoa to discuss health cooperation and humanitarian affairs across the African continent. A phone call with British National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell addressed bilateral relations and regional developments, according to El-Fagr.
Domestically, multiple sessions in the House of Representatives addressed economic legislation. El-Balad reports that Speaker Hisham Badawi convened an extended discussion with the Youth Parties Coordination bloc to align legislative priorities ahead of the close of the first session of the current parliamentary term.
