UAE thwarts coordinated cyberattacks targeting aviation, energy and education sectors

Abu Dhabi: The UAE Cybersecurity Council (CSC) announced that national cyber defence systems have successfully detected and thwarted a series of advanced, coordinated cyberattacks targeting the country's aviation, energy and education sectors. The Council said the attacks were identified and contained proactively, preventing the attackers from achieving their objectives or affecting the continuity of critical systems and services.According to the CSC, the campaign involved multiple attack vectors and techniques, including attempts to infiltrate systems and digital infrastructure, compromise accounts and operational data, and conduct targeted phishing campaigns aimed at exploiting users as entry points into sensitive environments. The Council said national cybersecurity teams responded immediately, detecting and repelling the malicious activities while tracking attack paths and identifying indicators of compromise associated with the campaign.Technical measures were subsequently implemented to neutralise the threats and prevent their spread. The Council emphasised that the attacks were successfully contained before any disruption to critical operations occurred, reflecting the effectiveness of the UAE's cyber defence capabilities and continuous monitoring systems. The UAE Cybersecurity Council said it remains committed to strengthening national cyber resilience and protecting vital sectors against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
