Information indicates that Tehran is determined to obstruct any intention by the party to offer concessions to the Lebanese state regarding withdrawal from locations or the handover of military infrastructure to the Lebanese army. Perhaps the clearest example of the heavy-handed policy within the party, and generally in Lebanon, is the issue of the “Ali al-Taher hill” facility, which Israel insists on disabling and dismantling, either by force through an invasion or diplomatically by convincing “Hezbollah” to hand it over to the Lebanese army to avoid a major battle that the party will inevitably lose, increasing the military pressure on its members deployed in the south facing Israel.
