The foundations on which Iran is relying are based, according to diplomatic sources, on a domestic Iranian sense that the priority at present is to protect Iran and the regime, while the internal opposition is less capable of mobilizing amid the regime’s continued possession of repressive and intimidating tools, more than ever before, under the pretext of pursuing and punishing Israeli agents, as it is currently doing, with little dissenting voice from either outside or within the country, particularly following the Israeli intelligence penetration of Iran’s military and security establishment.
