UAE Intensifies Regional Diplomacy, Condemns Iranian Drone Attacks on Bahrain, and Reaffirms Support for Lebanon’s Sovereignty and Sudan Peace.

Lead:

The United Arab Emirates mounted a broad diplomatic offensive across multiple regional fronts, with senior officials conducting high-level calls on Lebanon, Egypt, and Ukraine, while strongly condemning Iranian drone attacks targeting Bahrain. Simultaneously, Abu Dhabi reaffirmed its humanitarian commitments through emergency aid to Lebanon and Venezuela, and signaled its backing for a newly announced US-brokered tripartite framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel, underscoring the UAE's expanding role as a stabilizing force in an increasingly volatile region.

Details:

According to Al Khaleej, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a telephone call with Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Joseph Aoun, during which both sides discussed bilateral relations and regional developments. Aoun expressed gratitude for the UAE's fraternal positions toward Lebanon and its people. The conversation centered on reinforcing conditions for stability, security, and the advancement of a peace track across the region. Separately, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, welcoming the tripartite framework agreement and reaffirming UAE support for Lebanese sovereignty.

Al Khaleej further reports that Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed also held a telephone call with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, during which both ministers reviewed regional developments. UAE Diplomatic Adviser Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash publicly endorsed the Lebanon-Israel framework agreement, describing it as a positive step, while affirming that diplomacy must remain anchored in firm principles that preserve Gulf security and stability. Gargash stated that genuine state sovereignty represents the true guarantee of Lebanon's long-term stability.

On the Iranian drone attacks against Bahrain, Al Khaleej reports that the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong condemnation, rejecting what it characterized as aggressive Iranian actions targeting a sisterly Gulf state. The UAE's denunciation was unequivocal, with no ambiguity regarding its position on the inviolability of Gulf states' security. In parallel, Bahrain praised the UAE's successful mediation effort that resulted in the exchange of 320 Russian and Ukrainian prisoners, further highlighting Abu Dhabi's active mediation credentials.

Al Khaleej additionally reports that the UAE, acting under directives from President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, dispatched humanitarian aid to Lebanon through the Emirates International Humanitarian Agency, while separately announcing a ten-million-dollar emergency relief package for Venezuela. Minister of State Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy represented the President at a Ukraine recovery conference, reiterating the UAE's commitment to supporting peace efforts.

Watch For:

Whether the US-brokered Lebanon-Israel tripartite framework advances toward a formal agreement, and how regional actors, particularly Iran, respond to mounting Gulf condemnation of its drone operations. How the UAE balances its expanding mediation role between Russia and Ukraine alongside its firm Gulf security posture will be a key indicator of Abu Dhabi's diplomatic trajectory in the coming weeks.
